Master Bathroom Makeover

When we bought this foreclosed home back in March of 2010, this is what our master bathroom looked like.  It was super scary!!  Ugly wallpaper, nasty linoleum, mold, and it was incredibly filthy. Not sure the pics even do it justice.

{the wooden toothbrush holder was disgusting!!}

{yes, that is packing tape, lots of yellow caulk and mold.  Ewwww.}

During the remodel we:

  • Removed the vanity and mirror
  • Put down new tile
  • Replaced the baseboard
  • Covered the beautiful hideous wallpaper with beadboard
  • Removed the sliding door track on the tub
  • Scraped off the popcorn ceiling
  • And of course, painted every square inch!

Now for the after.....
Directly on your left when you walk in is the vanity.  We put it on this wall because a) I didn't like it on the other wall, and b) the space would have been too small for a regular vanity.
{love those orange flowers..they keep moving around my home!}

  • Vanity--We picked up the vanity for $100 on craigslist...it was a steal considering it had a granite top and the faucet and plumbing were included.
  • Mirror-- Yard sale find! I bought the mirror for $10 at Nester's yardsale (back in 2010) and painted it white.
  • Shower curtain--Stumbled upon this one at a yardsale for $2! =)  We found the curved shower rod and hooks when I made my first venture to Home Goods.  I was thrilled because the rod was $16.99!  Woo-hoo!
  •  Sunburst Mirror-- $3 DIY project!  I'll share more on that in another post. =)
  • Paint-- Sherwin Williams "Tradewind", color matched at Lowes.

I was such a "minimalist" when decorating this bathroom.  I wanted it to feel calm and keeping it uncluttered accomplished this look for me.  Every other room in our home has some type of "child-clutter" in it, (even though it's not technically "clutter") so it's nice having ONE place that just looks serene, lol!
{stood in the corner of the tub to get this shot, lol!}
So there you have it...our master bath makeover...from scary to serene! =)  Hope you enjoyed seeing more pictures of our home!

P.S...Just realized that I didn't put the soap dispenser back or the basket that holds the toilet paper after I cleaned the bathroom and took these pics.  I promise we use both. =D

  1. Very nice makeover! There is nothing better than showing the world all your hard work and final outcome! Good job. I like the mirror - very nice looking over the sink. ANd uh, whoever invented the "wooden" toothbrush holder is nuts. Hello can you say germ pit!? LOL!

  7. What an awesome makeover. You took this bath from drab to fab!

    We've been redoing a bath since January and I don't think we'll ever finish it.
