Foodie Slump

Hello Friends!  Happy Monday to you!!  Since we've had some crazy-busy weeks around here, it's been a while since I've actually posted on a Monday.  Aren't you so proud of me? =P

Well, I have to confess that I've had a total "I'm so uninspired in the food department" meltdown the last couple of days.

We came back from our whirlwind trip up North super late Thursday night and really, really need to go grocery shopping and now I can't think of a single good thing to eat.  Okay, okay, I can think of a few things like spaghetti, tacos, peanut butter and jelly, but that's as far as my brain will stretch.  It's not often that I get in a "food slump".....I'm usually a little too inspired in the kitchen and am making a mess when I should be dusting or scrubbing the bathroom. {blush}  During my sorry attempt at making this week's menu, I tried to think about all the yummy recipes I had tried in the last few months to hopefully get a little more inspired. Here's a few we tried and really liked.....

Honey Sesame Chicken via Six Sisters Stuff

Taco Pizza via Pioneer Woman

Crockpot Creamy Italian Chicken via Cheesecakeluvrs4life
I know this isn't a meal, but I made them these pretzels with the kids on Saturday and wowsers!  They were awesome!!  See there I was baking instead of cleaning! {shaking head}
Homemade Soft Pretzels via Our Best Bites

And here's some more recipes I've seen and hope to try soon....maybe these will make it on the menu. (Can you tell that I LOVE my crockpot?!)

Crock pot Chicken Parmesean via Chef in Training

And have you seen this?? Oh my goodness...it looks amazing!

Reese's peanut butter banana bread via Cookies & Cups

I also want to try this hummus recipe that doesn't use tahini paste.  I have put off making hummus for ages because tahini costs $8.49 a jar. (!!)  So if I can get by without it, I'm gonna try it!  I was going to make it this weekend but I was out of olive oil. Boo.

Seriously though, even after looking at all those yummy pictures, I still don't want to make any of them!  What is my problem? (Any of you ever feel like that????)  Maybe I'm still having a "1500 miles in the car in one week with four kids" hangover. Can't we all just survive on cheerios?? =D

Okay, so what do you do when you're feeling totally uninspired in the kitchen? Do any of you have any easy-peasy recipes you want to link up and share? (Pretty please!!)

  1. I rely on my crockot so I can just dump stuff in and go on with my day! :D

  2. I would love to so I will get to that asap! Promise! I also suffer from NSGETM syndrome (a.k.a. 'Nothing Sounds Good Enough to Make' syndrome)!

  3. I am so uninspired in the kitchen right now! :( I don't know why... just nothing sounds good. Don't have the energy to cook it cause I have been working outside all day or watching kids all day. Need to try to do some grilling and some salads as lighter food is appealing to me right now. :)

That taco pizza looks good - might have to try that! :)

  4. oh, you wanted me to share recipes - I have been fixing Renee's Parmesan tilapia about once a week -we love it and it is easy! And we have chicken quesadillas or homemade pizza every other week too. Other than that, no recipes to share :) I need to look myself :)
