In my effort to improve my photography, I've decided to join Darcy at Life with My 3 Boybarians for her project 52. Every week she'll be posting a new theme to interpret and photograph. Really looking forward to this!
Now for the story behind my picture............
Last week my daughter said to me, "Mommy, when I get as good at the piano as you, do I still have to practice? Because you never have to practice."
Ouch.
My kids think I'm Beethoven, and I am so NOT. But I saw in that moment the message I am sending. By not practicing, I'm saying to them, "When you get as 'good' as me, you can quit trying to improve." (And again, I wouldn't even qualify myself as "good!") Definitely NOT what I want to teach them!
So, one of my resolutions this year is to practice every week day, just for 15 minutes. If I have more time, awesome! But I'm starting small in an effort to not quit!
Real quick...what's one of your "Resolutions" for this year?
LOVE this! We're doing this this year too - for the first time - just posted a WEEK 1 photo on Tuesday! Looking forward to following along!
ReplyDeleteHello!
ReplyDeleteI really like your photo, and great your resolution!
Petonets xoxo
Good message, I never really looked at it like that! I like your resolution and your photo!
ReplyDeleteI love your picture. The black and white just works. I especially love the story behind the picture.
ReplyDeleteFunny how convicting listening to our kids can be, right? Do you teach your own kids piano? I think Haylee is at a great age to start and she is dying to so she'll at least have initial interest propelling her, but kind of scared of taking on teaching her myself!
ReplyDeleteFabulous resolution and capture! Kids have this amazing ability to remind us of these kinds of things, don't they?
ReplyDeleteWeeeeeelllll. . . One of my "resolutions" per se was to start going to bed a little earlier. A good bit earlier, to be exact. Maybe a little theme of self-discipline. But if you take notice of the time at which this is written, you'll see it's going to be a bit harder for me to overcome. :P
ReplyDeleteThanks SO MUCH for sharing the p52! I'm always looking for things like that in regard to photography. :) BTW. . . GREAT pic! Very expressive.
Valerie
that's a GREAT resolution. I used to play for contests as a teenager, and have almost totally lost it. You go, girl!! It's a beautiful skill that is becoming a lost art! And your kids will have such fond memories of mom on the piano.
ReplyDeleteto at LEAST devote 30 minutes a day to going outside alone, if it's going for a walk or just sitting on our porch swing and praying or reading the bible or my devotions!
