When I was expecting each of my children, there was one thing I always wanted to do: make a baby quilt. Well, life happened and neither Lydia, Caleb or Levi have a quilt or special blanket made by Mommy. {sigh} Now with #4 on the way, I was determined that it was going to happen!
Since I am not a quilter and have never made a quilt of any kind, I knew I needed a plan! The first place I always start when beginning a new project is a search for inspiration. I simply googled "Baby Quilt Tutorial" and wow, there was so much to see! (Let's just say I spent too many of Levi's naptime hours looking through them all!)
Here were some of my favorites:

After I bookmarked all of my favorites and looked back through them, I began to notice a trend...I was REALLY drawn to the patchwork style quilts! Finally, I narrowed it down to one of the simplest and easiest tutorials I could find! And the winner was.....{drum roll, please} the quilt shown at the very top, "The Road Trip Quilt."
Once the decision of what type of quilt to make was settled, next up was what seemed to be the most difficult part of all....picking the fabrics!
Stay tuned.......
Have any of you ever taken a stab at quilting? How did you pick a design? |
