Fall Felt Petal Pillow

This pillow is so perfect for fall!  The felt gives a cozy and warm texture while the petals add a fun, whimsical dimension. Sadly though, it is not mine!  I made it for a friend for a house warming gift.  (Thankfully she loved it. I get SO nervous making things for people!!  Always afraid they will hate it!)

By the way, I made this pillow the day before leaving for vacation.  Yes, I am crazy.  Instead of packing, I was sewing.  Go figure.  Me and my ADD self.  {shaking head}

To make this pillow, I followed the directions found here.  While this is a very well done tutorial, I just want to point out a few things I noted while making this project:

1) Buy 1/3 yard of felt instead of 1/4.  I had 1/4 and it was exactly enough with nothing to spare!
2) I'm not so sure how accurate the time allotted for the project was.  The tutorial said it took her 30 minutes to make and it took me 3 hours. Perhaps this is attributed to a vast difference in our sewing abilities or because I was doing this while really tired???  Or both?  I don't know, but based on my experience, it will likely take you longer than 30 minutes.  Regardless of the time, this pillow is so worth it!

Already dreaming up another version of this pillow for myself....maybe houndstooth fabric with a yellow flower??  Oh the possibilities!

Have any fall pillows or crafts planned?  Also, do you enjoy receiving or making homemade gifts?
