We are having Mission's Conference at our church this week, and last night our speaker said that phrase several times.
It hit me like a ton of bricks.
That is NOT me.
I have been just fine with being mediocre.
Mediocre can be pretty comfy.
Mediocre in my relationship with the Lord, relationships with others, training my children, home responsibilities, ministry responsibilities, etc.
Doing just enough to barely get my "A" if you know what I mean.
But that's not what God expects. He expects me to live and serve wholeheartedly!
Ecc. 9:10--"Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might."
1Corinthians 10:31--"Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God."
Deut. 6:5--"And thou shalt love the LORD thy God with all thine heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy might."
Where do find yourself today? Are you cruising along, fine with "mediocre", or are you serving God with all you have?
I struggle with feeling mediocre all the time. I've been using the excuse of my current health issues, but God has been showing me others who are so much worse off than I am yet they are on fire for Him.
ReplyDeleteHe has been laying on my heart to spend time in prayer everyday - not just a fleeting prayer at the moment, but on my knees in the bedroom with the door closed and all attention on Him kind of praying.
Praying is the MOST I can do!
Thank you for this post and the Bible verses!

ReplyDeleteThank you for this post. It is true that most of us are satisfied with mediocrity in several (at least) areas of our lives. I don't want to be that way! I am a perfectionist so sometimes I wear myself out trying to do MORE than needs to be done. But, I believe that we all should take time to re-evaluate our lives and strive to live for God and serve Him wholeheartedly! Then many other areas of our lives will fall into place.
ReplyDeleteThis is such a great post. I'm a new reader and have recently added you to my "favorites". I'm really enjoying your blog.
