Chalkboard Make-Over

A few months ago, I found this chalkboard for $2 at a yardsale.  When I saw it I knew immediately what I was going to do with it.

This weekend I finally got around to finishing it.  I removed the hooks, primed it, and painted it with white trim paint.

Then my sweet hubby hung it in the hallway directly outside Lydia and Caleb's bedrooms.

See those lovely hooks?  They now hold their daily chore cards!  (I made these last year after seeing the idea here.) The chore cards were previously housed in a cupboard in the kitchen and it was easy for my children to forget what they were supposed to do. Out of sight, out of mind, right?  I was daily having to remind them and all of you parents know that is not fun!  Now the cards have a home in a spot that cannot be missed.  Hopefully this will make our daily chores go smoother!  Also, if there is an extra chore I want them to do that day, I can just write it on the board.

No extra chores today though....we left them a message instead. Why?? We are getting our kids back tonight!  Our children have been with their grandparents since Thursday night and we are really missing them.  Steven and I planned an "Organization-Staycation" for these last few days.  Definitely one of the best things we've ever done!  (More to come on this later!)

What kind of chore system do you in your home?
