{Homemade Oreos}
I was going to make these from this recipe but I had no sugar. Bummer. But I had a cake mix so I used that and improvised.
Homemade Oreos
1 Devils Food Chocolate Cake mix
2 Eggs
1/2 cup oil
Mix it all up and shape into balls. Slightly flatten the balls with your hand or the bottom of a glass. Bake at 350 for 8 minutes. Allow to cool for 1-2 minutes before removing to cool on a wire rack.
Cream Cheese Icing:
1-8oz. package cream cheese, softened
1/4 c. butter (1/2 a stick), softened
1 tsp. vanilla extract
2/3 c. powdered sugar
Mix it all together until nice and fluffy and creamy. Put it into a plastic bag and snip the end off. Pipe a "blob" onto a cooled cookie. Place another cooled cookie on top and gently squish it. Voila! A homemade Oreo!
These are really, really, really good!! And easy. They don't taste like an Oreo though, it's more like a Whoopie Pie.
My hubby's word-for-word review: "These are not fit for consumption. Please dispose of them and put them in my bottom dresser drawer."
He cracks me up.
Now go make these...your family with love them!
Sounds yummy and easy. Thanks for the idea. I will make them this weekend with the kids.
