Making Your Home a Haven-- Day Four: Fun

Early this morning I intended on posting what we did yesterday, but our internet was down until 1:30pm. So, I'll just give you a briefing. =)

We had some unexpected things happen yesterday and we just had to adjust go with the flow. Despite not being on schedule, I got everything done except washing the bedsheets, so I'm happy with that. And only the load that was hanging up to dry did not get put away. My mountain of laundry is now just a mole-hill!

Also because of the changes made in our day, I changed our dinner plan! We had raviolis with spaghetti sauce, salad and.... (drumroll, please) homemade french bread! I had always had in my mind that it would be SO hard to make it, but it was very easy. You don't even have to knead it! The loaves didn't turn out the prettiest, but boy was it good! Way better than store bought!

I'll just be honest, today has been a struggle so far. My usually cheerful children had a meltdown at the store, our quick "run in and run out" session at the store took much longer than expected, we literally got soaked to the skin when we walked out and it was pouring, and all in all, it really has not been a fun morning. BUT, the day is not over. One thing I've realized as a wife and mom is that I have the capability to adjust the "thermostat" in our home. If I'm upbeat, happy, sweet and joyful, you know what? Most of the time, everybody else is as well. The old saying, "When momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy" is so true.

SO, in an effort to change the "climate" of our day, and since the focus is on making our havens fun, we'll be having a family game night! I'm going to surprise my little people and make some Crispix snack mix to munch on and some Oatmeal Raisin cookies.

To prepare for our game night I need to:

-Make Crispix Snack Mix
-Make Oatmeal Raisin Cookies
-Vacuum living room
-Do a room by room pick up
-Have kitchen mostly cleaned before dinner
-Dinner: Chipotle Chicken Enchiladas, rice, corn

I'm looking forward to waking my little people from nap and greeting them with a smile!

  1. Sounds very productive and I understand how you just have to go with the flow.

You so have to share how you made your bread! It looks so amazing!
