Lydia's first day of kindergarten went great! She said she loved it and that it was so much fun! That's what I call sweet success. =) Her subjects are Bible, History & Geography, Phonics, Handwriting, Math, Science and Literature (read-a-loud time.) It does sound like a lot of work, but the curriculum we are using does a great job of keeping it simple and balancing the workload. She already learned a lot in one day and it was just right. She was stretched, but it wasn't in any way overwhelming. I don't even think she was tired. We started at 8:45 (15 minutes late due to a fussy brother) and we were done by 11:00. And that was including frequent dealings with a certain cranky child and a 15 minute break. We weren't in any way rushing and I wasn't even paying attention to the clock. Obviously, since this was the first day it was "light", but still, I am very encouraged. Our first day has definitely left an impression on me. Homeschooling takes a lot of hard work and commitment, but it is a very rewarding job. It was so awesome to be able to teach Lydia something new and watch how her face just lit up. I am truly excited to begin this homeschool journey!
Here's the big kindergartner before school. She wanted a picture with an apple. Silly girl!
