Christmas Eve

We had a really nice Christmas Eve! Steven had to work for a little while, but he was home for most of the day. Before dinner we were able to visit an elderly man in our church. He has no family at all (that fact alone is hard for me to comprehend) so we took him some Christmas cookies and some homemade apple butter and just spent some time with him. He lives right by a small horse farm and we all walked over so Lydia and Caleb could see the horses. They were really cool. It was just funny to see their different personalities. It was a nice visit and I'm glad that we were able to go. Like I said, I cannot imagine being all alone, especially on Christmas. After we left we rode through "the Cadenville" (McAdenville!) again so we could see the Christmas lights one last time. They were beautiful as always!

When I was growing up, the tradition in my family was that we were allowed to open one present on Christmas Eve. Well, Steven didn't do that growing up and didn't want to do that. SO....we compromised. =) We decided when Lydia was a baby that we'd let them open one gift on Christmas Eve and that it would always be jammies. That way, every Christmas morning they would look all cute for pictures in new jammies! Lydia has always forgotten what it is she's opening and is always surprised. I suppose one of these years they'll catch on! For now I'm content for them to stay in oblivion. =)

Here they are....can you tell that they are excited to open a present?!?
These are Lydia's princess jammies. They are so cute! They came with a "magic wand" and slippers. We forgot to take a picture of her in them though. Oops!

Caleb was so excited that he got "Cars" jammies. Red flannel jammies covered with Lightening McQueen and Mater...doesn't get any better than that!

Caleb modeling his new jammies. =)
